The Womens and Girls section at Melksham Town have had a fantastic start to the season with the competitive teams from U12 and above only losing one game from the 23 that the teams have played. This includes the U14 girls who are playing their 2nd season in the Mid Wilts Youth league where they have started their season with 3 wins and a draw against boys team.
The Ladies team have won their 4 opening games of the season scoring 16 goals , conceding only 3 and head the division. The squad this year is made up of 10 of the U17 squad from last season, showing there is a progression path into ladies football.
This season saw our U16 girls merge with Staverton girls and has proved to be a great success as the girls lead the division and have healthy numbers available for matches and training.
The U13 girls are playing the 9 v 9 format for the first time and have started the league season on the front foot and top the league after their first 3 games.
Our U12’s where we have 2 teams containing 23 players have made a great start to their 1st season of competitive football and lie 3rd and 4th in a league of 11 teams and playing some great football.
The club also have 2 development teams at U11 and U10’s with 18 girls signed on across the teams and with some experiencing matches for the first time and loving playing the game.
We have 7 girls playing across all the age groups for Melksham Town boys teams along side the U14 girls playing in the boys league , plus the club have 8 girls playing for the Wiltshire Ability Counts Centre.
The female section at Melksham Town has around 120 players training each week at the club and are looking to grow numbers in the age groups below.
As a club, we are able to provide girls football from year 1 (u7) to year 4 also with girls training on a Wednesday evening and given the opportunity to take part in festivals ran by the Wiltshire ladies and girls league in conjunction with Wiltshire FA.
If you have a daughter in year 1 to 6 that is interested in giving football a try, please email youthsecretary@melkshamtown.com
